Japanese Inro

On Tuesday my friend challenged me to make a Japanese Inro so that is how I spent part of yesterday.  Oddly enough last year I very nearly carved both an Inro and a Netsuke at my carving club  (a love spoon tempted me away from that idea).   (Google Inro and netsuke)

In my bathroom drawer I found a small plastic bottle and it was the perfect size to make the Inro.  I used some of my stash of red envelopes to make some paper pulp and this is the end result.  It is drying now and needs several coats of sealer before I can add the Netsuke
